How it Works
An alert arrives in your mobile phone SMS inbox
The MyInboxNow service retrieves your emails and sends an alert, as an SMS, directly to your mobile phone’s SMS inbox. This alert contains basic information about the email so that you can quickly and easily determine what action to take.
Viewing an alert
To view the SMS alert, you simply select/open or click on the alert as you would for any other SMS message. Once opened, you can read a summary of the alert which includes the email address that received the message, subject info, the message id #, a hyperlink, the first line or two from the email, and a advertisement at the end (Hey, we have to make some money….). The message id # is important for using SMS commands to read, reply, and forward emails. It is *NOT* used when accessing your email via WAP or mobile browser. When selected/opened or clicked on, the hyperlink allows direct access to the complete email via WAP/Mobile browser.
Reading the entire email
You have two options to read your email:
Reading email via SMS
To read an email via SMS, you reply as you would to any normal SMS and in type “R” <id #>. For example, if the id# is 100 then type “R 100” to read the email. You will receive multiple SMS messages (depending upon the size of the email). You can limit the number of SMS messages you receive via SMS command (for more info see the section “Using SMS Commands”) or via your preferences.
Reading email via WAP/Mobile browser
To read an email via WAP/Mobile browser, you select/open or click on the hyperlink in the SMS alert. (Note: you must have a data plan and your phone must support WAP or have a mobile browser to use this option. And also you must have network data coverage). Opening the hyperlink initiates a data session with your mobile service provider and once the session is active you are taken directly to the email. You can scroll down and read the entire email.
You also have the ability to check your inbox, reply, reply all, forward, or view any attachments. The commands are hyperlinks and provide single-click access.
Viewing attachments
To view attachments you simply select/open or click on the attachment’s hyperlink. The attachment will then open in the WAP or browser window.
Sending a reply
You have two options to reply to an email:
Replying to an email via SMS
To reply to an email via SMS, reply as you would to any normal SMS and type “RE” <id #> <your message>. For example, if the id# is 100 then type “RE 100 I will review the contract tomorrow. Regards Jeff” and then send the message as you would any normal SMS.
Replying to an email via WAP/Mobile browser
To reply to an email via WAP/Mobile browser, you select/open or click on the hyperlink in the SMS alert. Opening the hyperlink initiates a data session with your mobile service provider and once the session is active you are taken directly to the email. Scroll to the “reply” hyperlink and select/open the link.
You can then type “*your message*” and press the send button.
Reading an email via SMS
To read an email via SMS, read as you would to any normal SMS and type “RE” <id #>. For example, if the id# is 100 then type
“RE 101".
Forwarding to an email via SMS
To forward to an email via SMS, forward as you would to any normal SMS and type “FW” <id #><email address>. For example, if the id# is 102 then type “FW 102 johnc@gmail.com” and then send the message as you would any normal SMS.
Compose to an email via SMS
To compose to an email via SMS, compose as you would to any normal SMS and type “C” <id #><email address> <your message>. For example, if the id# is 103 then type “C 103 johnc@gmail.com I will review the contract tomorrow. Regards Jeff” and then send the message as you would any normal SMS.
